My self cleaning oven keeps catching fire on the inside – what do I do?

Victoria asked:

I just went to clean my self-cleaning oven and a huge fire caught in the inside of the oven. The door is locked, so I can’t even open it to pour baking soda on it. I turned the oven off and the fire seems to have gone away, but I don’t know what to do! Can I not clean my oven or something?

Was it food scraps that caught on fire? You’re supposed to clean the big stuff out first.

doesn’t self cleaning mean it should clean its self, pay to get a m.o.t its not too expensive and it will be worth it

they make oven cleaner for self-cleaning ovens. Its a special formuls so’s you can hand clean the oven. Its in the super market.

opening the door would have made the fire worse. it went away. clean gunk out first- don’t let grease pile up. I assume it isn’t a CONTINUOUS clean- otherwise this wouldn’t happen.
