THE best stuff to use is woolite heavy traffic cleaner, i swear by this and it takes blood, urine, and dirt like magic. THE BEST STUFF OUT THERE.
I cleaned rugs for awhile, we did furnature too. We used the same soap mix on the furnature as we did the rug. We also did all the pillows so I think it would work just a great on a mattress.

next time use a mattress pad
Use carpet shampooing techenic. Best way is to clean as “How the car cushions were clean?”. Ther is the product, techenic and expert cleaner.
Do not try with Bleach. Blood.. There is the blood remover you can buy from laundro mart. Other stain shall remove easily.
There is a product called “Folex” for carpet stains. It works really good on blood stains and all you have to do is spray on and dab! It works really great and you can find it at most grocery stores . .little pricey around $7.00 but it works so good on so many things!
i just scrub it with liquid detergent and then i steam clean it….the bed got soaked but after it was dry it was clean….
