I was planning on buying a new fish today, is it still ok to buy one and put it in my tank today, after cleaning it all?

yes that is fine
i’m thinking yes.even though i haven’t ever had a pet fish
it will be ok just let it filter for couple of hours before adding the new fish then add the new fish according to the instructions on the fish bag good luck
The only chemical you should be using is a water conditioner to remove chlorine and chloramines. Ammo Lock is pointless and just messes up your water. Nothing gets rid of ammonia except having a cycled tank with good bacteria and doing your weekly partial water changes.
If you only did a cleaning with a partial water change then adding one fish should be no problem. If you totally tore the tank down then you need to cycle it again.

Just wondering why you are asking this question is it a new set up, in that case needs to cycle for at least 6 weeks, or did you have sick fish that died and are cleaning everything out, whatever the answer you have started the tank from new which means you will need to cycle it.Hope it helps.
